THE LIMOUSIN BREED

Imported to Canada in 1968 from France, the Limousin breed is know as the leading breed for carcass quality and yield. Through careful selection Limousin breeders have been selecting important and convenient traits such as calving ease, polled, performance and feed conversion throughout production.

Using a Limousin sire has proven to add muscle and improve yield and marbling no matter the dams breed. Limousin sires offer the smallest birth weights of all the exotic breeds.

The Limousin female is an excellent addition to your herd as she has optimum milk production, coloured teats and udders to prevent sunburn, outstanding mothering ability, longevity and higher end salvage values.

Limousin cattle excel in feed efficiency had have proven to consume less than other breeds of the same size and still perform to equal or superior levels. Carcass yield equals profit as a result of meat to waste ratio. Limousin cattle boost a naturally high yielding ability.

Not only can producers benefit from Limousin cattle but so can consumers. Limousin meat is recognized for its leanness and fine grain resulting from the F94L gene that they naturally carry.
